DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’ - OLYMPIC REMIX

I wrote this remix of "Don’t Stop Believin’" and dedicated it to the hard-working athletes who gave their all to achieve their dreams of qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games despite the challenges presented to athletes by the global pandemic.

Trayvon Bromell, Dalilah Muhammed and Elaine Thompson presented this song to give hope to all athletes with dreams of success at the Games in Japan.

It is a reimagined cover of one of the most famous songs by the world-renowned band “Journey”, interpreted by one of the best Steve Perry impersonators in the world, the Chilean Nicolas Cid. It’s a story of athlete perseverance and is dedicated to all those who have struggled and given so much effort despite incredible adversity on their path to Tokyo.

Lyrics: Kevin Nutley
Artist: Nicolas Cid (@nicoz_cid)
Video: Alejandro Goycoolea

After writing the lyrics and recording a demo version of the song, it was sent to Chilean artist Nicolas Cid to produce and record. Unfortunately I was not present in the recording session and was unable to correct the mispronunciation of several words such as “athletes”, “heights” and others.

However, the song turned out to be a great success, particularly in Spanish-speaking countries of the Americas with the Tokyo 2020 Olympics right around the corner. The video included athlete messages recorded at an Athletics Invitational in Florida that we live streamed on the Panam Sports Channel and was edited by my colleague Alejandro Goycoolea. The video quickly racked up more than 80,000 views on YouTube and was shared and reposted by several National Olympic Committees of the Americas.
